Gain hands-on Experience in the Civil Construction Field

Grade 12 students are invited to apply to our 2025 Spring Break Program

Spring BreaK Opportunity

 

Work a minimum of 80 paid hours in the field or the office as a part of our team. Successful applicants will be provided with Green Hard Hat and WHMIS training, as well as a variety of experiences over a two week employment (March 17th-28th, 2025). 

Training

Students will be provided with Green Hard Hat Training, WHMIS training, as well as on-site training from coworkers and foremen.

Experience

Students will be working hands-on, learning about the various roles in the field. They will work with a crew on an active site while being assigned tasks and shadowing experienced labourers and foremen.

Safety First

Students must wear the required PPE while in the field. Students are responsible for having their own CSA-certified steel toed boots, long pants and 4″ sleeves. B&B will provide the remaining necessary equipment. 

Transportation

Students must have their own transportation to and from the job site. Work hours are 7 am to 3 pm, five days a week, with potential opportunity for overtime hours.

Applicants will be screened for suitability and those who are shortlisted will be invited to attend an in-person interview at our headquarters in South Surrey. Field Staff Opportunity

(10 students) – $22/hr

This position is ideal for somebody who is interested in the civil construction industry. Students will be provided our Green Hard Hat Training course through the B&B School of Construction prior to arriving on site. When assigned a site, students will be working under a foreman, taking on a variety of tasks to get a feel for the positions available. Students will begin and end the day with their crews and will become familiar with what a day looks like on a civil construction site. These positions can lead to a possible summer employment opportunity.

Students must wear steel-toed boots, long pants/jeans, and a shirt with at least a four-inch sleeve. Students should have clothing that is appropriate for inclement weather (we work rain or shine). B&B will provide hard hats, vests, and any specialized equipment necessary.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

– Site clean up

– Grading materials

– Assisting with pipe install

– Landscaping

– Truck management

Student Experience

Students can expect to get an authentic experience working at a civil construction firm. Our past Work Experience groups have shared that they found the experience to be a valuable one, with some students having found permanent employment within the industry.
