2026 Spring break Work Experience
Are you interested in civil construction? Looking for meaningful work experience and exposure to the field?
Join our team and work a minimum of 80 paid hours as a part of our Spring Break Work Experience. Learn from our talented field staff and better understand the opportunities that are waiting for you!
Gain Experience. Make connections. Start a career.
At B&B, we understand the power of opportunity. For years, we have offered a Spring Break Work Experience opportunity, geared towards students in grade 12 who are interested in civil construction. Some of our past students turned this opportunity into a career; many of our past Spring Break students are now permanent B&B employees!
From March 16th to 27th, a cohort of students will join our team at B&B. They will be provided orientation and skills training before being dispatched on site. Over the course of two weeks, our talented team members will provide paid hands-on training to this cohort, giving valuable insight into this growing industry.
With over 75 years in the industry, the B&B Contracting Group is a leader in heavy civil construction across British Columbia. We are committed to developing the next generation of skilled workers by providing meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, and build a future in construction.
Many of our long-term employees started their careers early, learning on the job from people who cared about doing things the right way. This program is one of the ways we continue that tradition.
Hands-on
— Spring Break Work Experience
Safety First
Students must wear the required PPE while in the field. Students are responsible for having their own CSA-certified steel toed boots, long pants and 4″ sleeves. B&B will provide the remaining necessary equipment.
Hands-On Experience
Students will be provided with a company orientation, Green Hard Hat training, WHIMS training, as well as small tool training. They will be matched with an on-site mentor to guide them through the day-to-day of the site. Students will be working hands-on, learning about the various roles in the field. They will work with a crew on an active site while being assigned tasks and shadowing experienced labourers and foremen.
Career Opportunities
Students will be paid $25/hour while participating in our Spring Break program. This program acts as a “dress rehearsal” for many students, allowing them to get a feel for what working in civil construction entails – and possibly securing summer employment. This program can lead to an exciting career; we have a variety of full-time permanent employees who tried the Spring Break Experience and loved the work.
Transportation
Students must have their own transportation to get to and from the job site. Sites will be in various locations across the Lower Mainland, and standard work hours will be 7 am to 3 pm, with the opportunity for overtime in some cases. Reliable transportation is a must-have for this program.
Can you see yourself in civil construction?
