About this Project
B&B Contracting has been a key civil contractor on TransLink’s new Marpole Transit Centre (MTC), a multi-phase project that will support up to 300 electric, zero-emission buses. The future facility includes a multi-storey maintenance and operations complex, fueling and wash stations, and extensive site infrastructure.
Over the course of several work packages, B&B’s scope includes the following:
- Demolition, site clearing, and bulk excavation
- Crushing, processing & repurposing recycled material as site fills
- Contaminated soil removal, including off-site disposal
- Grading & preparation for ground improvement program by GC, which included over 19,000 rigid inclusions
- Preclearing for deep/shallow utilities, floodwall & ground improvement program
- Deep utility installations for water, storm, and sanitary systems, including a sanitary lift station
- Supply and placement of over 140,000m³ of CGSB gravel for bulk fill
- Road upgrades and utility tie-ins
- Detail foundation excavation & backfill
- Mechanical detailed excavation & backfill
- Electrical detailed trenching & backfill, including concrete-encased duct bank & vaults
